Often photographed but rarely seen, the old patriarch tree is located in the heart of Grand Teton National Park. To find the tree, you need to first find the unmarked pullout on the park road, then blindly trek over three tiers of open sagebrush heading East until you come across a tree which is unlike any other. The fresh snow from the night before was a cold reminder of the season ahead and harsh winter conditions which have shaped the old patriarch over the years.
